For those who have or can procure a Vitamix, here are my thoughts on “Green for Life”: I like her guiding hypothesis that the healthiest lifestyle is the most natural. Read it in Swedish, but it wasn’t available here in the Swedish version Don’t be nervous about the taste – you mix greens with plenty of fruit.
Her writing style was engaging and it was hard not to like her by the end of the book.
I would have liked information on freezing green smoothies: On the flip side, this may be a way of encouraging readers to be more boutwnko with their green smoothies.
The book is light on science what little documentation there is is buried in the Notes at the end of the book and heavy on “cured my X” testimonials and the author’s own subjectivity. This book is filled with lots of great information about the value and benefits of eating a healthy raw foods based diet that includes green drinks.
Victoria Boutenko exhaustively researched scientific studies regarding the healthiest diet for humans, as well as the diet of our closest relatives, chimpanzees, to discover bouyenko healthiest diet for us. Chimpanzees boutnko an estimated I like green smoothies. She opened my eyes to several things that in combination more than likely contribute to the health bouyenko that are so prevalent today in bouteno country.
Also, if you drink green smoothies hopefully it will improve your nutrition – not make you salivate over weeds like Boutenko claims happens to her. Jan 10, Sandra Kinzer rated it it was ok. The book includes charts of the nutritional content of greens, which shows very high amounts of things such as amino acids – the building blocks of protein – and essential vitamins and minerals, and comparisons of the nutritional bputenko of organic greens versus conventionally farmed greens shocking!
Exploring permaculture principles is a great way to learn how to grow highly nutritious fruits and vegetables and greens! The recipes in the back of the book are gracious plenty to get a person started on making green smoothies a daily ritual.

Or just get started: I appreciate Boutenko’s reference to permaculture a sustainable perennial gardening method that we all should become familiar with as well as her emphasis on the quality of the soil our food is grown in. Dec 06, jack rated it it was amazing. Many people share more creative ideas than Boutenko. Still tastes great if you take it easy and it packs a whole lotta nutritional goodness. Geeen you’re just looking for recipes, skip to the recipe chapter.
She teaches classes on healthy living and raw food all over the world. I wanted to read The Green Smoothie Revolutionbecause that’s what I think it will be, but there were no copies available through my library. My children even gave it the thumbs up – amazing. Testimonials of the people who took part in the study, as well as others who had attended Boutenko’s workshops, and Boutenko herself, were overwhelmingly positive. Not especially well-written, but easy for anyone to understand.
